Thank you to those who were able to weather the rain storm and make it to our first As A Mom, North County San Diego meeting. We look forward to meeting and getting to know the rest of you real soon. Following are the meeting notes and action items:
Next Meeting - Tuesday, Feb 2 at 9:30am
Our next meeting will be held in Carlsbad. The main focus of this meeting will be to develop our communication strategy and train everyone on the various social media tools (i.e. Yahoo Groups, Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, etc).
We will send out an Evite and agenda shortly. Please RSVP and feel free to invite other Mommy Patriots. As always, children are welcome. If enough of us have children in tow, we may get a sitter to help. So please note on your RSVP as to whether or not you are bringing a little one with you.
Mission Statement
Following is the mission statement that resulted from our brainstorming session. Feel free to email us your edits and suggestions if you haven't done so already. We will take a vote at the next meeting on whether to approve it, tweak it, etc.
"As A Mom, North County San Diego, is dedicated to uniting moms who advocate for honesty, transparency, and accountability in American politics to protect their children's freedoms. As a non-partisan group, our goal is to educate, motivate, and support those who embrace their civic responsibility to defend the Constitution and preserve our civil liberties for the betterment of future generations. Above all, we hold in high esteem the values and principles that afford our children an equal opportunity to obtain the American Dream and safe-guard their God-given inalienable rights."
Assigned Action Items
1. Jan to investigate I-caucus
2. Nancy to investigate other possible partnerships and to find out if her son will work on our logo.
3. Dana and Kaare to launch Blog/website.
4. Kathy and Sherri to look into promotional items for membership drive activities (i.e. shirts, business cards, stickers, etc.)
Future Considerations and Calendar Items
1. February - In order to expand our reach and influence, we need to meet people where they are in terms of their political involvement as they may not be ready or even know enough to rally. Unique ways of introducing other moms to the cause include, book club, political movie night, education seminars, guest speakers, etc. Our goal is to host our first As A Mom social in February. Date TBD.
2. March - Let's not reinvent the wheel. Instead of fighting every single issue, let's partner with other organizations already leading the charge and support them. By doing so, it will free us up to focus on where we are needed most (likely educating people on civics, the constitution, political parties, government, etc). In March we will focus on identifying strategic partnerships and alliances as well as making plans to support Stop Taxing Us at the April 15th Tax Day Tea Party in Oceanside (more details to come).
