Welcome new member Darcy! We were glad to see you and all the other dedicated conservative women at the meeting on Tuesday.
This meeting was an opportunity to pitch our pressing issues, like health care, political corruption and political education, identify partnering opportunities with other local conservative groups and choosing which causes we'll focus our time and energy on to make the biggest difference.
As moms, we are all busy caring for those around us. We have kids and grand-kids, spouses and friends, jobs and housework. We all have relationships that are important and that deserve our time and energy. They are our first priority. It has become apparent to us however, that in order for our families to enjoy the freedoms and privileges set for us in the Constitution, in the future, we must educate ourselves and our families about the Constitution, the history of our nation and current issues facing our schools, our cities, our states and our country. If our children grow up not knowing why conservatives feel the way they do, they will not be committed to upholding the values and principles that keep us free. Politicians are people who can easily be corrupted by the system they are supposed to serve. We sometimes let them forget that they are accountable to us. It is not enough to trust others to do the dirty work. It is time for us to pay attention.
It is evident that our awareness of the things going on around us is going to be vital to speaking out when we see a wrong, stepping up when we have the chance to make a difference, and doing what needs to be done in order to preserve the freedoms we hold dear.
It's great to belong to a group that is committed to doing just that!
